about the collective
Resourceful by necessity.
Held together by care.
I founded The Jugaad Collective as a nonprofit initiative after seeing how many South Asian nonprofits and artists lacked reliable technical and design support. This is my way of building practical, community-first systems without pretending perfect conditions are required before good work can start.
field notes
What this initiative is trying to protect.
- Built for South Asian nonprofits, artists, and collectives
- Designed around resourcefulness instead of polish-first thinking
- Grounded in care, access, and practical support
meaning behind the name
Jugaad is making something useful from what is at hand.
The word carries a spirit of workaround thinking, repair, adaptation, and creative use of limited resources. I want this initiative to embody that spirit without romanticizing scarcity.
what that means here
Use what exists. Build what is missing. Share what works.
The collective exists to turn available skills, tools, and infrastructure into direct support for people doing meaningful work in their communities.
principles
How we operate
This initiative is intentionally small, direct, and accountable to the communities it is trying to help.
Community first
Technology and design are tools, not the point. Community needs and existing realities decide the direction.
Queer-friendly by default
We actively design and moderate for safety, dignity, and belonging online.
Accessible learning
Workshops and resources stay open where possible. Knowledge should circulate, not get hoarded.
Practical stewardship
Servers, credits, volunteer time, and donations are directed toward useful project delivery and shared infrastructure.
